1. Smelter Operation Readiness – Officer Occupational Health

  • Deadline 19 July 2023

The purpose of this position :

  • Developing, implementing, and evaluating Occupational Health management according to 4 pillars (preventive, promotive, curative & rehabilitative) based on PT Freeport Indonesia (PTFI)/Freeport- Mcmoran (FCX) HS Policy & Standards and Statutory Regulation in Manyar Smelter (MS) & Manyar Maju Refinery (MMR).

The key duties and responsibilities of this position :

  • Developing PTFI Occupational Health Policy, Procedures & Standards in accordance with FCX Health & Safety policy, procedures, standards, and compliance of statutory regulation.
  • Ensuring company Occupational Health Surveillance and coordinate with all stakeholders to ensure medical record management in accordance FCX Health & Safety policy, procedures, standards, and compliance of statutory regulation.
  • Contribute to development of PTFI Occupational Health Programs based 4 pillar (promotive, preventive, curative & rehabilitative) and communicating to all employees and Contractors to engage their participation on the implementation
  • Coordinate the implementation Company Occupational Health Program with Medical Service Provider to increase Employee Wellness and prevent work related illness.
  • Conducting Company Health data analysis to provide information regarding to Company Occupational Health performance by leading & Lagging Indicator in accordance FCX Health & Safety policy, procedures, standards, and compliance of statutory regulation
  • Facilitate and coordinate the Emergency Response collaboration team between Medical Clinic and Emergency Service to create the effective and efficient process.
  • Providing assistance for food safety management and employee nutrition, and coordinate with medical provider to conduct inspection and audit to Canteen Provider.
  • Providing Health & Safety guidance and assistance to company and all stakeholders in Occupational Health matter to ensure understanding and implementation of health expectations.
  • Maintaining document and record related to Occupational Health Management and providing regular reporting to all related stakeholders.
  • Conducting training and seminar to campaign Occupational Health matters to all employee and contractors.

The key challenges in this position :

  • Ensuring Compliance with Regulations: There are numerous government regulations that govern Health & Safety management in Indonesia that come from difference Ministry, such as Ministry of Manpower, Ministry of Energy & Mineral Resources, Ministry of Health and other related Ministry. As a supervisor, you need to ensure your understanding and keeping up to date to all regulations, including appropriate International Standard and implementing compliances against all of those requirements.
  • Coordinate with all stakeholder: A good communiation ways to connect is a must, to deal with Internal departments in each work shift and its can be challenging due to their respectively interests and needs.
  • Hazardous Environment: Smelting & Refinery operations can be dangerous, the supervisor must be aware of and follow strict safety protocols when visiting and working in these environments, using specialized protective gear to ensure personal safety.
  • High Pressure Work Environment: Smelting & Refinery operations are often high-pressure environments where downtime can result in significant financial losses, and as supervisor, you may need to deal with high-pressure situations where time is of the essence. You need to be able to make quick decisions and take appropriate actions to resolve issues promptly.
  • Complex Processing Plant: MS MMR is single line processing system with various specific health hazards and Potential Fatal Incidents in each plants with wide area of supervisory. This can be challengging to adapt and learn all proccess since the double flash smelter is newest technology in Indonesia and contains hazardous chemical associated with its process.

Minimum Education & Experience :

  • Bachelor’s in a Health & Safety, Medical doctor, paramedic, or other related discipline
  • 5+ years experience in Health & Safety related experience in mining, mineral/metal processing especially in Occupational Health field

Core Competencies (Knowledge, Skills & Characters)

  • Have a valid Frontline Operational Supervisor (POP) – BNSP certification.
  • Have a valid Occupational Health & Safety Expert (AK3U) – BNSP or DISNAKER certification
  • Have an Indonesian Junior Industrial Hygiene (HIMA) BNSP – DISNAKER Certification is desirable
  • Have a Train of Trainer Level 3 – BNSP or DISNAKER certification is desirable
  • Experienced in implementing several core occupational health programs i.e.: wellness program, return to work, health Campaign, anthropometry, Health & hygiene inspection, etc.
  • Experienced in delivering Occupational Health awareness training or Seminar e.g., Nutrition awareness, healthy lifestyle, common disease, etc.
  • Have experience in managing Occupational Health of the following field company are desirable:
  • Bulk materials handling (belt conveying, pneumatic conveying, milling)
  • Pyrometallurgy (copper, other base metals)
  • Hydrometallurgy (electrolytic refining or similar)

2. Smelter Operation Readiness – Superintendent, Process Safety & MOC

  • Deadline 13 July 2023

Description :

  • This position will be located in Gresik, East Java, Indonesia:
    • Under limited supervision, manages the Process Safety and MOC Teams for the downstream Smelter Division of the PTFI organization. Lead the implementation of asset management systems which includes management of the long-term maintenance strategies, long term planning, and supporting budget development and cost control reporting. Drives and leads change in continuous improvement efforts across the organization.

Additional Responsibilities :

  • Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, supervises, enhances, and monitors designated Maintenance and planning practices for the site, reporting to the Site Maintenance Manager of Smelter Operations.
  • Lead an I&C group in providing technical support and direction to the Maintenance department within PTFIs new smelter. Ensures direct reports and departmental teams have clear and specific goals to support the downstream operation. Ensures appropriate knowledge and training programs for direct reports.
  • Will ensure effective project Process Safety change management at Manyar Site
  • Deliver training to site personnel on process safety
  • Steward the use of the incident reporting and investigation process within PTFI Manyar, particularly for PS incidents.
  • Implement safety critical equipment & safe operating limit management processes
  • Facilitate Process hazard Analyses
  • Understand existing Management of Change Strategy and create engagement required
  • Be the custodian of all site MOCs
  • Ensures team is to provide proactive advice to the Operations and Maintenance Teams in ensuring optimum daily operations of the facilities with both a short and long-term outlook.
  • Execute tactical and strategic goals, objectives, policies and procedures for the Maintenance Group as it relates to successful operation of the Smelter facilities.
  • Apply personal expertise and knowledge while supporting Maintenance and Planning processes, ensuring appropriate daily, short- and long-range planning and scheduling techniques are followed according to company CMMS Standards.
  • Support overall planning and maintenance forecasting activities. (Cost and equipment performance).
  • Develop and nurture a transformative culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the team along with a disciplined risk-based approach to change management, including representing the site on company sponsored teams, such as transformation office Agile Teams.
  • Supervises or reviews, investigates, and develops appropriate recommendations to achieve or exceed downstream processing goals and objectives under a continuous improvement approach.
  • Support and direct development throughout operational readiness efforts of the CMMS system for both the Smelter facilities as it relates to operation and maintenance activities ensuring alignment with corporate standards and best practices.
  • Be a major contributor to the development of spares identification efforts, ensure adequate reviews are arranged and spare parts recommendations are received from the project groups. It is expected that the Maintenance department are responsible for the correct identification and forecasting of spare part needs.
  • Support ongoing optimization site projects.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelors degree in preferably Instrumentation & Control Engineering, or related field and ten (10) years of experience in area directly relevant to large process facilities.
  • Prior major project management and/or start-up experience.
  • Skilled in supervising, evaluating, training and motivating employees.
  • Able to research and analyze information of considerable difficulty and draw valid conclusions.
  • Proficient in planning, scheduling, execution and follow-up of maintenance practices at large Smelter or Mining facilities.
  • Working knowledge of CMMS and other business systems.
  • Familiarization with Smart Plant Instrumentation (SPI).
  • Familiarization with Siemens PCS7, Siemens PLC systems, Profinet, Simatic smart relays.

3. Smelter Operation Readiness – Supervisor Health & Safety Operation

The key duties and responsibilities of this position :

  • Overseeing and evaluating the implementation of PTFI/FCX Health & Safety policy, procedures, standards, and compliance of statutory regulation in field operation to all company Operation and Contractor.
  • Determining, implementing, and facilitating Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment with all stakeholders in the field operation and determined controls in each work shift in daily basis according to PTFI/FCX HS Policy & Standards and statutory regulation in each work shift.
  • Implementing dan evaluating Fatal Prevention Management (FRM) Program and the effectiveness of critical control implementation in field operation in each work shift.
  • Facilitate incident investigation process and monitoring and evaluate the effectiveness of its corrective action implementation in the field in each work shift.
  • Facilitating Health & Safety workplace area inspection program in all department and contractor in each work shift and coordinate safety shift engineer in each MS-MMR facility.
  • Conducting regular Health & Safety audit in the field to all company operation and contractor as part of Contractor Safety Management System implementation.

4. Manager, HR Compensation & Benefits

The purpose of this position is :

  • Provide expert advice of Strategic Reward Management to PTFI Management to ensure PTFI is attractive compared to Market and is able to retain its High Performing/High Potential Employees.
  • Plan and design PTFI corporate Compensation and Benefits strategy as well as education and communication programs to employees.
  • Oversee Compensation and Benefits matters for PTFI as well as Privatized Companies to ensure accuracy and timely execution with minimum negative impact.

The key duties and responsibilities of this position are :

  • Ensure that legislation, arbitration decisions, and collective labor agreement and assess industry trends to be considered on developing and implementing reward management.
  • Plan and design corporate cash and non-cash compensation and benefits as part of total reward management and to increase the quality of life for employees.
  • Plan, develop, and strategize employee education and communication programs on company reward management system as part employee awareness program through optimizing line management’s involvement on that programs.
  • Ensure that market salary survey provides accurate salary and benefits data and information including market participants design, type of salary information, consultants etc. as to get accurate external competitiveness position against market and to allow proper comparison between jobs, grades and overall company compensation and benefits.
  • Plan and develop a cost of living allowance survey and its monitoring system to be used for collective labor agreement salary adjustment recommendation as outlined in the collective labor agreement by engaging Union and other stakeholders to accept the system and participate into the program actively.
  • Prepare and design non-staff compensation and benefits analysis based on the inputs taken and or other data info collected from any sources as to support collective labor agreement negotiation meeting.
  • Review, plan/design, and implement competitive compensation and benefits program to attract and retain our high potential and performed employees.
  • Ensure that staff compensation and benefits annual adjustments are in time and accurately implemented based on Sr. Management’s direction and guideline.

5. Sr Analyst, Compensation Planning & Analysis

  • Deadline 18 July 2023

Conduct salary and total cash review and analysis, including to act as primary analyst in salary survey, in order to provide supervisor and HR Management with accurate and meaningful insight regarding compensation management as well as improvement in current practice.

The key duties and responsibilities of this position are :

  • Act as primary analyst and pivotal point for external company salary survey and conduct any necessary analysis and provide recommendation to PTFI Sr. Management through extensive coordination with external parties (consultant, Big 4, etc.).
  • Support annual salary and bonuses review and payments to ensure the timely processing of these and other payroll matters.
  • Study on company compensation practice and seek best practice on industry to keep maintaining company compensation program still align with company objective.
  • Prepare and calculate new salary of promoted employee and monitor the communication thru employee letter in ESS (Employee Self Service) web
  • Provide total cash information required by US/Nola payroll for planned secondment employee. Monitor the database of secondment employee, and inform the related parties in PTFI. Conduct the review on employee salary once back from secondment program
  • Prepare and calculate Completion Bonus payment for PTFI and partners to ensure the timely processing and on correct amount.
  • Prepare and calculate outstanding compensation for terminated/ resign employee to ensure the accurate amount provided
  • Review and calculate the PBA/ Smelter Monthly Incentive achievements and monitor the communication to employee thru Interoffice memo
  • Recommend improvement to PTFI’s compensation policies and procedures that will address adverse/inappropriate practice and trend and sol lead to more efficient and fair compensation practices.

The background, education, and work experience needed to succeed in this job are :

  • Minimum Education and Experience:
    • S1 degree in Human Resources or Accounting with at least 5 years of experience in Compensation Management.

6. Smelter Operation Readiness – Shift Supervisor Hot Metals

Main Duties and responsibilities of this position: 

  • Responsible for the safety of all team members under his supervision. Responsible for the safety of everyone who works in his control area.
  • Controlling the daily operations of the plant consistently meeting all environmental regulations and commitments.
  • Proactively lead the team to achieve production targets safely by implementing all relevant Safety and Environmental programs, including Fatal Risk management (FRM).
  • Provide safety briefings (safety talk) before starting work either for process members, maintenance or sub contractors (general labor).
  • Leading his team in identifying hazards, establishing risk controls, and ensuring the effective implementation of critical controls in the field.
  • Ensure team members follow the SOP for each job. The Shift Supervisor proactively evaluates SOPs and becomes a conduit for information if there are deficiencies in an SOP identified by their team members.
  • Contribute his skills to the multidisciplinary team in the application of risk controls that have been analyzed through HIRADC and Job Safety Analysis (JSA).
  • Check and assess work permits. Responsible for work permits that have been given to workers.
  • Contributing his skills in work accident investigation and root-cause analysis
  • Demonstrate the ability to interact positively with operators, mechanics, technicians, during field safety verification and take responsibility for stopping work if there is a hazard or damage that has not been controlled.
  • Make work shift reports, which include work safety and environmental aspects.
  • Patrol the factory area where there are maintenance or repair activities.
  • Check the completeness and feasibility of safety equipment for both personal and production units.
  • Together with the Team Leader, maintain the Cleanliness, Tidiness and Comfort of the work area at the Factory.

Operational Tasks:

  • Creating and fostering a culture within its organizational structure aligned with PTFI’s core values (SINCERE, Freeport EDGE, etc.).
  • Leading the operational team working in shifts to achieve safe production and meticulously handling multiple issues within the entire Flash Smelting Furnace facility. Mastering the use of the Key Performance Indicator (KPI) system to manage and encourage operational team achievements. Proactively provide input to improve the KPI system to ensure alignment with operational business needs.
  • Provide feedback on performance to team members and provide corrective action if necessary.
  • Monitor daily process results through predefined metrics. Manage Team Leaders and Operators to guarantee product quantity and quality within specifications.
  • Factory patrol.
  • Encouraging cooperative efforts in the field between operations, maintenance and other departments for repairs if there is equipment damage.
  • Proactively provide feedback to superiors and the technical team to improve productivity, product quality, process stability and operational costs.
  • Provide reports on production shifts (shifts) to the ranks of internal leadership.
  • Fully support emergency recovery efforts.
  • Understand operating the control system in the control room (DCS) related to the area.
  • Collaborate with Process Engineers in developing effective operational strategies to achieve production targets (feed speed, feed type, production quality, etc.).
  • Provide Assessment of Employee Work Results in group shifts as an annual performance evaluation.

During the detailed engineering, construction, operational readiness, commissioning phases:

  • Support the implementation of new systems/procedures/processes and provide guidance, training, mentoring and support.

  • Diploma (D-I, D-II, or D-III) in a technical field and more than 7 years experience in leading shift operational workers in chemical, metal, or mineral processing plants.

OR

  • Bachelor degree (S1) in technical field and more than 5 years experience in leading shift operational workers in chemical, metal or mineral processing plants
  • Minimum Certified First Operational Supervisor (POP).
